Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frappe

I am SO PROUD of this recipe! It is truly a chocolate lover’s dream! Plus, not only is it absolutely delicious, but it’s low in sugar and it has 20 grams of protein!

Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frappe

Servings: 1 | Total Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 packets Starbucks Via Instant dark roast coffee

  • 8 ounces Chocolate milk (I like to use Slate Dark Chocolate Milk because each can has 20 grams of protein and zero grams of sugar)

  • 1/2 tbsp Torani Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Syrup

  • Sugar free chocolate chips (measure with your heart, and of course feel free to use regular instead of sugar free)

  • 1/4 tsp Xanthan gum (this is optional, but it gives the drink more of a frappe texture and less of an icy slush texture)

  • 2 tbsp Cold water

  • 1 cup Ice

Instructions:

  1. To a small glass, combine xanthan gum and water, and mix with a fork or spoon. A clumpy gummy mixture should form, and the water should get thick and gooey. Set aside.

  2. To a blender, add instant coffee, chocolate milk, chocolate chip cookie dough syrup, sugar free chocolate chips, the xanthan gum mixture, and ice.

  3. Blend for 60 seconds or until smooth and then pour into a large cup. You can top it with whipped cream and chocolate syrup if you’re feeling fancy!

Helpful Tips:

Xanthan gum is a binding agent that helps bind the ice and liquid together to create a texture very similar to the Starbucks Frappuccino beverages. You do not need to use this, but it certainly does improve the texture. The gum does not affect the taste at all, it just gives the drink a more thick and gummy sort of texture.

Torani has a sugar free chocolate chip cookie dough syrup you can use to make this drink completely sugar free! The regular syrup has about 13 grams of sugar per tablespoon, so for this recipe, I used 1/2 tbsp for about 6.5 grams of sugar. The sugar free version of the syrup reduces the sugar content from 6.5 grams to zero.

The instant coffee is what gives this drink a rich coffee taste without watering down the frappe. You could use cold brewed coffee or iced coffee, but you will need to add more ice, and the coffee flavor may not be as bold. You can get these instant coffee packets from Amazon, Starbucks locations, or most grocery stores!
