Creamy Spicy Sausage Alfredo Pasta

My husband and I LOVE this meal! It is so simple to make, and it uses only seven total ingredients! You can easily double or triple this recipe for a big family dinner, or for multiple meals throughout the week!

Creamy Spicy Sausage Alfredo Pasta

Servings: 4 | Total cook Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 box pasta (penne, fettuccine linguine, whatever you like)

  • 1 jar alfredo sauce

  • 1 package (4-5 links) spicy sausage

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 carton cherry tomatoes

  • Side salad (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Boil your pasta in salt water until tender (about 12-15 minutes depending on pasta type) and then strain

  2. Slice cherry tomatoes in half and set aside

  3. Slice spicy sausage into rounds and brown in a pan with 1/2 tbsp of oil (6-8 minutes per side) and then remove from pan onto a plate or bowl

  4. Place pan back on the burner, and add the remaining 1/2 tbsp of oil along with the halved cherry tomatoes, salt, and pepper, and cook until soft (about 6-8 minutes)

  5. Once tomatoes are soft, add the strained pasta, the browned sausage, and the jar of Alfredo sauce. Mix well until all the ingredients are coated in the sauce.

  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and then serve alone or with a side salad (optional)

Helpful Tips:

  • Cut down on the cooking time even more with precooked pasta. Use leftover pasta from a previous meal, or try out these pre-cooked pasta packs that are great for an even quicker meal!

  • If you aren’t a fan of spicy sausage, you use chicken sausage, grilled chicken, or ground turkey for a great source of protein. To make this meal vegetarian, use crispy tofu, chick peas, or green peas instead of the sausage!

  • To add more veggies to this meal, you can absolutely serve the pasta with a side salad. I have also added mushrooms to this recipe. I cook the mushrooms in the pan with the cherry tomatoes to soften them before adding the sauce.

  • I often like to add kale to this recipe for extra nutrients! Add fresh kale to the pan after adding the alfredo sauce for an extra serving of greens!

  • If you are following a lower carb diet, you can still enjoy this meal with any low carb noodles. Zoodles are a great option, hearts of palm pasta is another one, and so is spaghetti squash. For the spaghetti squash, cut the squash in half, season with olive oil, salt and pepper, and bake inside part face down for 40 minutes at 375. Then just add the meat, veggies, and sauce directly into one of the halves for a fun, low carb meal!
