Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried rose petals
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Add dried rose petals, sugar, water and salt to a pot. DO NOT add the lemon juice yet, set that aside for later.
  • Stir the rose petals, sugar, water mixture to combine and moisten the rose petals, and then place the pot on the stove.
  • Bring the mixture to a roaring boil, and then lower the heat to a low simmer. Stir the mixture to ensure all the rose petals are moistened.
  • Let the syrup simmer for 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, turn off the heat, and remove the pot from the burner. The rose petals will have soaked up much of the liquid- that's perfectly normal.
  • Strain the rose petals out of the syrup and then use the back of a spoon to squeeze out any excess syrup or liquid from the rose petals, and then discard the rose petals.
  • Add the lemon juice into the syrup and stir to combine.
  • Let the Homemade Rose Syrup cool on the counter for 1-2 hours, then add a lid, and place in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks!
