Pumpkin Pie Steamer

Sometimes you want all the cozy fall flavors without the caffeine — something you can sip any time of day, even right before bed. That’s where this Pumpkin Pie Steamer comes in. Made with my Homemade Pumpkin Syrup (or store-bought if you’re short on time), this drink is sweet, creamy, and tastes just like warm pumpkin pie in a mug.

And the best part? It’s completely caffeine free, so anyone in the family can enjoy it — kids, coffee-avoiders, or even you while winding down for the night. After all, warm milk is supposed to help you sleep, right?

You can make it exactly how you like — dairy-based and extra rich, or dairy-free using your favorite plant-based milk and non-dairy whipped topping. Either way, it’s the ultimate fall comfort drink.

Ingredients

  • 1–2 tablespoons Homemade Pumpkin Syrup (or store-bought)
  • 6–8 ounces whole milk, steamed
  • Whipped cream (dairy or plant-based)
  • Pumpkin pie spice, for topping

Instructions

  1. Add the pumpkin syrup and milk to a milk frothing pitcher.
  2. Steam the milk using a steam wand, just as you would for a latte, until it’s warm and frothy.
  3. Pour the steamed milk mixture into a mug, then top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.
  4. Sip and enjoy your pumpkin pie in a cup.

Dairy-Free Option

  • Use almond, oat, or coconut milk instead of whole milk.
  • Swap the whipped cream for a plant-based version.

How To Steam Milk at Home

  1. Steam Wand: If you have an espresso machine with a steam wand attached to it, watch this Milk Steaming Video Tutorial for how to steam milk! You simply add milk to a milk frothing pitcher, insert the tip of the steam wand into the milk, and create air bubbles, heat and texture to create perfect, velvety steamed milk at home!
  2. Electric Milk Frother: Add your milk to an electric milk frother, and select the hot setting. The milk frother will heat the milk as well as create a thick and foamy texture. The texture will be a little different than a typical steam wand, but it’s very similar and pleasant, and a great option if you don’t have an espresso machine with a steam wand.
  3. Handheld Milk Frother: Add cold milk to a large coffee mug and place the mug in the microwave for 60 seconds. Alternatively, you can heat up milk in a pot on the stove until warm, just make sure to constantly stir it so it doesn’t burn. Once your milk is warm, insert a handheld milk frother into the warm milk. Froth the mixture until the milk doubles in size and becomes bubbly and frothy, and you have warmed, frothed milk for your hot coffee drinks!
