Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam

Not to sound dramatic, but, if you haven’t had Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam, you haven’t lived. It is such a deliciously sweet, creamy, pumpkin-flavored, airy concoction that pairs so unbelievably nicely with tons of drinks like an iced chai latte, cold brew, white mocha, or a brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso, just to name a few.

I posted a giant list of all my Starbucks Cold Foams Recipes the other day, but I feel like the Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam deserves its own spotlight this fall because it is THAT GOOD, and because I have a few different variations that I want to share with you. I hope this posts helps you find your favorite Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam making method, so you can enjoy the pumpkin deliciousness this fall season, or all year round!

What’s In The Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam?

The ingredients for the Starbucks PCCF are as follows:

PUMPKIN CREAM [VANILLA SWEET CREAM (CREAM (CREAM, MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, CARAGEENAN), MILK, VANILLA SYRUP (SUGAR, WATER, NATURAL FLAVORS, POTASSIUM SORBATE, CITRIC ACID)), PUMPKIN SPICE SAUCE (SUGAR, CONDENSED SKIM MILK, PUMPKIN PUREE, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLE JUICE FOR COLOR, NATURAL FLAVORS, ANNATTO, SALT, POTASSIUM SORBATE)]

As you can see, there’s a lot going on in that ingredients list, however, when you break it down, it’s really just:

  • Pumpkin (Spice) Sauce
  • Vanilla Syrup
  • 2% Milk
  • Heavy Cream

With this much more familiar and manageable list of ingredients, we can absolutely make a fabulous tasting Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam at home that tastes better and costs less! Let’s establish the equipment you’ll need for great at home cold foam.

Equipment Needed For At Home Cold Foam

  • A small cup
  • A handheld milk frother

That’s it! With a cup and a handheld milk frother, you can create the most perfect, creamy, fluffy textured cold foam at home. Now let’s dive into the ingredients you’ll need for my various Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam methods!

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam At Home

HOMEMADE PUMPKIN CREAM COLD FOAM METHOD

  • Canned Pumpkin: Canned pumpkin or pumpkin puree is what you’ll need for a delicious homemade Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam.
  • Vanilla Syrup: The Torani Vanilla Syrup adds a perfect touch of sweetness and vanilla flavor, but you can make your own homemade vanilla syrup, or opt for vanilla extract with some maple syrup instead. Also, feel free to use a Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup here for a lower sugar alternative.
  • Pinch of Salt: Salt brings out the sweet flavors of the cold foam, so definitely don’t skip the salt!
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: The Starbucks Pumpkin Sauce contains sweetened condensed milk, so I very much recommend adding this is into your cold foam as well for that perfect sweet flavor. To lower the sugar in the drink, opt for a Sugar Free Sweetened Condensed Milk.
  • 2% milk: The 2% milk in the cold foam helps the foam from getting too thick. It thins out the cold foam just enough that it keeps that soft and creamy cold foam texture we know and love. Feel free to use whatever other milk you like: oat milk, soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, 1% milk, etc, just know the texture may change a bit depending on which milk you use.
  • Heavy Cream: You absolutely need heavy cream to create a thick cold foam texture at home! It’s high fat content helps the cold foam froth up nicely so the foam sits on top of the drink, without seeping into your drinks.
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice – This spice gets added to the top of the cold foam and adds a lovely spiced fall touch. Cinnamon or nutmeg would also be great substitutes!
  • Handheld Milk Frother – The secret to great at home cold foam is a good milk frother! I have tried many frothers, and THIS ONE is the best I have ever used! It makes the thickest, creamiest cold foam, just like Starbucks! It’s about $5.00 on Amazon, and I promise, you will love it!

PUMPKIN SAUCE/SYRUP PUMPKIN CREAM COLD FOAM METHOD

  • Torani Pumpkin Pie Sauce: This store bought sauce is a great option for easy, great tasting pumpkin flavored cold foam. Alternatively, you could use the Torani Pumpkin Pie Syrup or the Torani Pumpkin Spice Syrup. For a lower sugar option, opt for the Torani Sugar Free Pumpkin Pie Syrup.

PUMPKIN CREAMER PUMPKIN CREAM COLD FOAM METHOD

  • Pumpkin Creamer: Around fall time, most grocery stores should carry an abundance of different pumpkin-flavored coffee creamers. You can easily froth the creamer up using a handheld milk frother until it’s thick, and then pour that over your drink of choice. Some popular options include:
    • Chobani Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer
    • Nutpods Pumpkin Spice Creamer
    • International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice Coffee Creamer
    • Dunkin’ Pumpkin MUNCHKIN Coffee Creamer
    • Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Liquid Coffee Creamer
  • Handheld Milk Frother – The secret to great at home cold foam is a good milk frother! I have tried many frothers, and THIS ONE is the best I have ever used! It makes the thickest, creamiest cold foam, just like Starbucks! It’s about $5.00 on Amazon, and I promise, you will love it!

COLD FOAM CREAMER PUMPKIN CREAM COLD FOAM METHOD

International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice Cold Foam Coffee Creamer: International Delight recently dropped a new type of product: a cold foam and a creamer in one. You pour the mixture on top of your drink of choice, just like you would whipped cream. The cold foam creamer creates a nice layer of cold foam on top of the drink, and then slowly cascades down into your beverage for sweet, pumpkin-flavored deliciousness in every sip. This is a super easy and convenient option if you just want to quickly add a pumpkin flavored topper to any iced or hot drink and then head out the door! No extra dishes or frothing needed! Look for this option next time you’re at the grocery store!

What Should I Do If My Cold Foam Won’t Get Thick?

  1. You need a better milk frother! No, not all milk frothers are created equal. The best one I have tried is the BonsenKitchen handheld milk frother. It’s $6 on Amazon, and is essential for great at home cold foam!
  2. You need more heavy cream! If you add too much milk, the cold foam will be too runny, so just add a small splash of heavy cream to thicken out the mixture. Note, if you try to substitue the heavy cream or 2% milk for half & half or almond milk, your cold foam will not be the same texture as Starbucks, so keep that in mind. Be sure your heavy cream amounts are higher than your milk amounts!
  3. Your milk frother needs new batteries! Sometimes you may notice your cold foam doesn’t get as thick as it used to and you didn’t change anything! Simply swap out the old batteries with new ones, and I guarantee you’ll have thick cold foam again!
  4. Make sure your coconut heavy cream is chilled. For the dairy free pumpkin cream cold foam recipe using coconut whipping cream, the cream HAS to be chilled or else it will not thicken. It should be chilled and thick, not room temperature and liquidy. Place the entire can in the fridge overnight or for a minimum of 4 hours before you froth it up.
