We are all familiar with the fabulous Starbucks Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher and the Starbucks Dragon Drink. We’re also very aware that a grande Dragon Drink costs just shy of $6 and a venti is $6.25. Not to mention the sugar amounts are 23 grams for a grande and 32 grams for a venti (31 grams and 45 grams for the regular Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher)!
Now, I don’t see any issue with buying a Starbucks refresher here and there, it’s nice to treat yourself sometimes. However, I do think it’s possible to enjoy a fabulous tasting Starbucks Dragon Drink that has only 4 grams of total sugar (0 grams of added sugar), and only costs $1.65!
Let me show you exactly how to make it!

Ingredients:
- Frozen dragon fruit pieces
- 1-2 tablespoons Torani Sugar Free Mango Syrup
- Ice
- 12 ounces water OR zero sugar lemonade
- 1 packet Great Value Sugar-Free Dragon Fruit Energy Drink Mix
- 4 ounces unsweetened coconut milk
- Optional garnish: fresh dragon fruit slice
Instructions:
- To a cup, add frozen dragon fruit pieces, Torani Sugar Free Mango Syrup, ice, water or lemonade, the Great Value Sugar-Free Dragon Fruit Energy Drink Mix, and coconut milk.
- Gently stir the mixture to combine the layers and flavors, and enjoy!
- Optional: garnish with a slice of fresh dragon fruit!

What If I Don’t Like The Coconut Milk?
For a regular Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher, just use 16 ounces of water as the base, and completely omit the coconut milk!
For a Mango Dragon Fruit Lemonade Refresher, use 16 ounces of lemonade as the base and completely skip the coconut milk.
What If I Don’t Want Lemonade?
Simply use water or green tea as the base and add coconut milk if you’d like!
What Substitutions Can I Make?
Frozen dragon fruit pieces
- Substitute with freeze dried dragon fruit pieces or frozen mango
Torani Sugar Free Mango Syrup
- Substitue the mango syrup for 1-2 ounces of mango juice – note: depending on which mango juice you use, it may impact the overall sugar amounts. Look for a low sugar mango juice or one with no added sugar.
Water OR zero sugar lemonade
- Feel free to make your own lemonade at home with whatever sugar or sugar substitue you prefer
- Opt for an unsweetened green tea or a black tea instead of water or lemonade. This will give the drink caffeine, and then you wouldn’t need the energy drink mix packet.
- Use sparkling water for a refreshing bubbly beverage

Great Value Sugar-Free Dragon Fruit Energy Drink Mix
- You can use green coffee bean powder instead of this flavored drink mix. The green coffee bean powder is flavorless and adds a caffeine boost to any beverage! Add 1 small scoop or 1/8 teaspoon! Note, the dragon fruit flavor will just be less intense.
- Use a sugar free energy base/concentrate like Lotus or Next Level Energy! Add 1 ounce of the energy base to your drink, and skip the drink mix packet entirely. Note, the dragon fruit flavor will be less intense, but the base will give the drink a pleasant fruity/tropical flavor.
Unsweetened coconut milk
- Feel free to skip the coconut milk if you just want a regular Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher! Simply use 16 ounces of water or lemonade.

What About The Other Starbucks Refresher Flavors?
For a Strawberry Acai Refresher/Pink Drink, use the Great Value Wild Strawberry Drink Mix instead of the Dragon Fruit flavor, and then use freeze dried or frozen strawberry pieces!
For a Pineapple Passion Fruit Refresher/Paradise Drink, use the Great Value Tropical Punch Energy Liquid Drink Mix instead of the Dragon Fruit flavor, and then use freeze dried or frozen pineapple! Optional: add the Torani Sugar Free Pineapple Syrup for more pineapple flavor!
Can I Make a Big Batch?
Absolutely!! I recommend combining the following in a large pitcher:
- 5-10 tablespoons Torani Sugar Free Mango Syrup, 60 ounces water or lemonade, and 5 of the Great Value Sugar-Free Dragon Fruit Energy Drink Mix packets.
Stir to dissolve the powder, add a lid to the pitcher, and store in the fridge. When you’re ready to enjoy, give the mixture another stir. Add ice and frozen dragon fruit cubes to a cup, add your refresher base, and then top with coconut milk!
