If you loved Fluffernutters growing up, you are going to love this Spooky Fluffernutter Latte recipe! It has the classic peanut butter and marshmallow fluff flavors with a fun and spooky twist.
What is a Fluffernutter?
If you’re not familiar with a Fluffernutter, it’s a sandwich made with peanut butter, marshmallow creme/fluff, and white bread. It’s a fun and delicious dessert-like sandwich that combines sweet and salty flavors. This Spooky Fluffernutter Latte has all the same nostalgic flavors of the sandwich combined with espresso and milk for a yummy latte version!

Let’s run through the ingredients you’ll need to make this recipe at home!
Marshmallow Fluff or Marshmallow Creme – Of course you’ll need marshmallow creme/fluff to make a Fluffernutter Latte. You can pick this up at any grocery store in the peanut butter and jelly aisle. You’ll need the marshmallow fluff/creme to make the adorable ghost shapes along the inside of the cup as well as adding marshmallow flavor to the latte. Opt for a sugar free marshmallow creme to keep the sugar low!
Black Sharpie or Black Permanent Marker – The marker is for coloring the ghost eyes and mouth on the outside of the cup. Make sure the marker is permanent so it doesn’t wipe off when you touch it.
Plastic Cup + Lids – I recommend buying disposable plastic cups for this recipe so you can draw the ghost faces on the cup without ruining your glass cups at home!
Powdered Peanut Butter – I find the powdered peanut butter works better than regular peanut butter in this recipe because it dissolves better in the espresso. Regular peanut will work in a pinch though. If you’re looking to keep the overall sugar low in this drink, you can use a Sugar Free Powdered Peanut Nutter Powder!
Espresso: Espresso is is needed to make an iced or hot latte. Whether you have an espresso machine or not, I got you covered, See my post on 5 Ways To Make Espresso At Home for all the ways you can make espresso for this drink and any other espresso based beverages!
Milk: Since this is a latte, the base of the drink is milk. You can use whatever milk you prefer in a latte!
Ice: Always add lots of ice to your iced lattes so they stay chilled and refreshing with every sip.
JavaSok Sleeve – If you are an iced latte, iced tea, or a soda drinker, JavaSoks are going to be your best friend! They are cute little sleeves that go around your cup to keep your drink colder longer, and to keep the condensation inside the JavaSok, and off your desk/out of your car cup holder! I use one every single day, and I HIGHLY recommend looking into them because their designs are super fun! You can click here for 20% off your JavaSok order!!

How To Make a Spooky Fluffernutter Latte
- Spread marshmallow fluff along the inside of a plastic cup using a spoon or small spatula to create a ghost-like shape. Repeat 2-3 more times all around the cup.
- Draw three small ovals on the outside of the cup using a black marker to make the ghost eyes and mouth. Repeat for each marshmallow ghost.
- Add powdered peanut butter and marshmallow fluff to a separate small cup, and brew a double shot of espresso over the top.
- Stir the peanut butter-fluff-espresso mixture until well combined, then add the mixture to your cup with the marshmallow fluff ghosts.
- Add milk over the espresso mixture, and add ice to fill the cup, leaving room for the whipped cream.
- Top the latte with a generous amount of whipped cream, and a sprinkle of powdered peanut butter, and enjoy!

Can I Make This As A Hot Latte?
Yes, you absolutely can make this as a hot latte. You might have to skip the marshmallow ghosts since they will dissolve quickly, and because the plastic cups shouldn’t be used for hot liquid, but you can still make a yummy Hot Fluffernutter Latte.
The recipe is the exact same as the iced version, just add STEAMED MILK (see how to steam milk below) instead of cold milk, and don’t add any ice to the drink.
- Add powdered peanut butter and marshmallow fluff to a separate small cup, and brew a double shot of espresso over the top.
- Stir the peanut butter-fluff-espresso mixture until well combined, then add the mixture to a mug.
- Pour cold milk into a milk frothing pitcher and steam using a steam wand. You could also froth the milk inside an aerroccino, or microwave the coffee milk for 60 seconds in the microwave and froth with a handheld milk frother until thick and frothy.
- Pour the steamed/frothed coffee milk over the espresso mixture, and top with a generous amount of whipped cream, and a sprinkle of powdered peanut butter!

How To Steam Milk
All hot lattes require steamed milk as one of the ingredients. To steam milk at home, you have a few options:
- Steam Wand: If you have an espresso machine with a steam wand attached to it, watch this Milk Steaming Video Tutorial for how to steam milk! You simply add milk to a milk frothing pitcher, insert the tip of the steam wand into the milk, and create air bubbles, heat and texture to create perfect, velvety steamed milk at home!
- Electric Milk Frother: Add your milk to an electric milk frother, and select the hot setting. The milk frother will heat the milk as well as create a thick and foamy texture. The texture will be a little different than a typical steam wand, but it’s very similar and pleasant, and a great option if you don’t have an espresso machine with a steam wand.
- Handheld Milk Frother: Add cold milk to a large coffee mug and place the mug in the microwave for 60 seconds. Alternatively, you can heat up milk in a pot on the stove until warm, just make sure to constantly stir it so it doesn’t burn. Once your milk is warm, insert a handheld milk frother into the warm milk. Froth the mixture until the milk doubles in size and becomes bubbly and frothy, and you have steamed milk for your hot latte!
Can I Make This Without The Marshmallow Ghosts?
Absolutely! If it’s no longer spooky season but you’re still craving a Fluffernutter latte, simply skip the marshmallow ghost steps and just make the latte!
How Can I Make This Without Caffeine?
For a caffeine-free Spooky Fluffernutter Latte, I would blend together the milk, powdered peanut butter, and marshmallow fluff and pour that over ice! Top with whipped cream and peanut butter powder! You’ll get a sweet and delicious, kid-friendly Fluffernutter Latte anyone can enjoy!
If you want to enjoy this hot, combine milk, powdered peanut butter, and marshmallow fluff in a small pot or saucepan, and heat over medium heat. Once warm, whisk the mixture until the fluff is fully melted and the peanut butter powder is fully incorporated, then pour into a cup and top with whipped cream and peanut butter powder.

How Can I Make A Dairy-Free Spooky Fluffernutter Latte?
For a dairy0free Spooky Fluffernutter Latte, simply use any dairy free milk and a dairy free whipped topping! Marshmallow Fluff is dairy-free but it does contain egg whites, so keep that in mind. Powdered peanut butter is also dairy free.
How Can I Make A Sugar-Free Spooky Fluffernutter Latte?
For a sugar-free Spooky Fluffernutter Latte:
- Use a Sugar Free Powdered Peanut Butter
- Use a Sugar Free Marshmallow Creme
- Use unsweetened almond milk
