Starbucks introduced a brand new Iced Sugar Cookie Breve on their holiday menu this year, and let me just say… it’s a fun one. It has all the same nostalgic, buttery, vanilla-almond flavor of the Starbucks Sugar Cookie Latte — but instead of milk, it’s made with half & half, making it extra creamy, velvety, and dessert-like.
Good news? It’s so easy to make at home, especially if you keep my Homemade Starbucks Sugar Cookie Syrup stocked in your fridge (which I highly recommend during holiday season). And yes, we’re topping it with the signature red + green sprinkles — because holiday drinks should always feel fun and cozy.
This is the perfect iced coffee treat to sip while wrapping gifts, decorating the tree, or heading out for errands on a festive December morning. Let’s make it!
Why you’ll love this recipe
- Half & half gives you an extra rich and creamy coffee beverage. I like to opt for a dairy free half & half to make the drink just as creamy and decadent but less heavy.
- The sugar cookie syrup brings those buttery, vanilla-almond, cookie-dough vibes.
- Holiday sprinkles make it festive and FUN (because yes, coffee can be adorable too).
- It’s easy enough to make at home and skips the coffee-shop price tag.
Ingredients (makes 1 drink)
- 2 shots of espresso – See my post 5 Ways to Make Espresso at Home for all the different espresso making methods
- 1-2 tablespoons Homemade Starbucks Sugar Cookie Syrup (adjust to your preference)
- 6 ounces half & half
- Ice (enough to fill your glass)
- Holiday red & green sprinkles (for topping)
Instructions
- Add the sugar cookie syrup to a cup and then brew 2 shots of espresso over the top. Stir well until fully incorporated.
- Pour the half & half over the espresso + syrup mixture, and then fill the cup with ice. Stir gently to combine.
- Top with a generous sprinkle of red & green holiday sprinkles.
- Sip and enjoy your ultra-creamy, cookie-inspired festive drink!
Hot version
If you’d prefer this as a hot drink:
- Add the sugar cookie syrup to a cup and then brew 2 shots of espresso over the top. Stir well until fully incorporated.
- Instead of pouring in cold half & half, gently steam or heat the half & half until warm (do not boil).
- Pour the half & half over the espresso mixture.
- Omit the ice.
- Top with sprinkles, and enjoy.
Substitutions & Variations
- Make it Dairy-Free:
- Swap the half & half for a dairy free half & half, barista-style oat milk creamer, or coconut milk
- Adjust the Sweetness:
- Use 2-3 tablespoons of syrup for a sweeter coffee or 1/2-1 tablespoon for lighter sweetness
- No Espresso Machine?
- Mix together 1/2 tablespoon instant espresso with 2.5 ounces of hot water
- Use a Nespresso double espresso pod (light or medium roast works great)
- Toppings & Extras:
- Whipped cream, crushed sugar cookies, crushed candy cane, cinnamon or nutmeg dusting

Pro tips
- If you like your drink more cookie-sweet, add an extra tablespoon of syrup.
- Want it lower calories and sugar? Use a dairy free half & half, use sugar free sprinkles or reduce the syrup to ½ Tbsp.
- For dairy-free? Swap half & half with a a dairy free half & half
- Make it extra festive: add whipped cream, crushed candy cane, or a drizzle of my Homemade Peppermint Mocha Sauce.
Starbucks Ratios
My recipe here reflects my personal taste preference for this beverage- I tend to like my breves less sweet and more coffee forward than Starbucks, but if you want to make your at home version identically to Starbucks, follow these exact ratios:
| TALL | GRANDE | VENTI | |
| SUGAR COOKIE SYRUP | 1.5 TBSP | 2 TBSP | 3 TSBP |
| ESPRESSO SHOTS | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| HALF & HALF | 5.5 OUNCES | 7 OUNCES | 9.5 OUNCES |
Take everything you love about a sugar cookie latte and turn it up a notch with luxuriously smooth half & half. It’s richer, more indulgent, and perfect for days when you want something special without spending $8 for coffee. Give it a try and let me know how your version turns out!
