What Makes it “Dirty?”
A dirty soda often means the soda has some sort of cream or dairy added to it as well as a syrup flavor. The addition of cream and syrup not only gives the soda a delicious creaminess but also added flavor and sweetness.
You can use whatever soda you prefer – regular or diet, coke or Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Orange Soda, soda water, etc!
I personally love the Nutpods dairy free half & half, but you can use any half & half, heavy cream, coffee creamer, or milk you have on hand!

What Dairy-Free Options Can I Use?
If you are dairy free, I love the nutpods dairy free half & half in my dirty sodas! It has a great flavor and creaminess level and tastes just like regular half & half!
What Is True Lime?
True Lime is just crystallized lime juice! Each packet is the same as using one lime wedge. There’s no sugar in the True Lime packets, just deliciously tart lime flavor that dissolves in your drink. Make sure you get the True Lime packets, not the Limeade packets if you want to keep it sugar free!
My Cream Separated, What Did I Do Wrong?
It is COMPLETELY normal for the cream to separate in a dirty soda. When cream or dairy mixes with carbonation, it tends to separate or curdle. Unfortunately, there’s no remedy for this but the good news: it doesn’t affect the taste or flavor whatsoever!
If the separation bothers you, I totally get it. You have a couple options:
- Add your drink to a non see-through cup like this tumbler!
- Don’t add any cream/cream to your dirty soda

Tips:
- Keep It Cold: This soda cubes hack ensures your drink stays cold without getting diluted, but you can absolutely just add ice, True Lime, soda, and half & half to a cup and enjoy the beverage that way!
- Customize the Flavor: Experiment with different sodas and flavors to create your unique version of a dirty soda. Add your favorite Torani syrups like vanilla, black cherry, coconut, or blackberry for variety!
