This drink order is all over TikTok and Instagram and for good reason! It is delicious and fun, and legitimately tastes like fall in a cup, BUT it’s a pricey drink! So let me show you how to make it yourself at home for half the price!
The original Starbucks order in case you want to try it:
Ask for a venti iced pumpkin cream chai latte with oat milk, 1 pump of vanilla, and 2 pumps of brown sugar syrup.
Here’s what you need to make this drink yourself at home, and trust me, it tastes just as good!
- Vanilla syrup – this is different than vanilla extract – vanilla syrup is sugar, water, and vanilla extract mixed together to create a sweet vanilla flavored syrup
- Brown sugar cinnamon syrup – I really love the flavor of this Torani Brown Sugar Cinnamon Syrup, but you could buy a Starbucks brown sugar syrup or simply use regular brown sugar from the grocery store
- Chai concentrate – most coffee shops use a chai concentrate to make their chai lattes, and I really like the Tazo Chai, the Oregon Chai, or the Trader Joe’s Chai concentrate. I find a 1:1 ratio of concentrate to milk will give the best taste. You can find lower sugar chai concentrate options depending on the brand, or you could even buy chai tea bags, steep them in a few ounces of hot water, and just use that instead of a store bought concentrate.
- Oat milk – Starbucks uses the Oatly Barista Edition Oat Milk, so your drink will taste most like Starbucks if you use the same milk. You can find it at most grocery stores or on Amazon.
- Ice – whatever ice you like, and however much ice you like!
- Chobani Sweet Cream Creamer – This product is optional, but I like to use it to make the cold foam simple, and requires less overall ingredients for the recipe. If you cannot find this product, simply substitute with milk and heavy whipping cream!
- Torani Pumpkin Pie Sauce – This sauce is absolutely delicious and I very much recommend getting your hands on this if you do not have it already! I use it in so many of my coffee recipes, and it makes your at home Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam so delicious! If you cannot find it, you can substitute with a Pumpkin Pie Syrup, Pumpkin Spice Syrup, or a combination of canned pumpkin, sweetened condensed milk, salt, vanilla syrup, milk, and heavy whipping cream (full measurements below).
- Pumpkin Pie Spice – I love this on top of cold foam, whipped cream, or any pumpkin coffee drinks. Cinnamon or nutmeg would be great substitutes!
- Handheld Milk Frother – The secret to great at home cold foam is a good milk frother! I have tried many frothers, and THIS ONE is the best I have ever used! It makes the thickest, creamiest cold foam, just like Starbucks! It’s about $6.99 on Amazon, and I promise, you will love it!

Once you have all your ingredients and your milk frother, you can start making your drink!
Start by adding the vanilla syrup to a cup, along with the brown sugar cinnamon syrup (or regular brown sugar), chai concentrate, milk, and ice. Swirl the ingredients together, and then set the mixture aside.
In a separate, smaller cup, pour in the Chobani Sweet Cream Creamer and the Torani Pumpkin Pie Sauce.
Place the end of the handheld milk frother into the liquid so the end is fully submerged. Press the button with your thumb to turn on the frother, and move the frother in slow, circular motions. Froth the mixture for about 60 seconds, to allow the creamer to thicken.
Once the cold foam is thick, release your thumb to stop the frother from spinning, and remove the frother from the mixture.
If you do not have the Chobani creamer, add 1 tbsp canned pumpkin, 1/2 tbsp Torani vanilla syrup, 1/2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk, a pinch of salt, and 2 tbsp heavy cream to a small cup, then follow the same frothing process above using a handheld milk frother until the mixture is thick. If the cold foam is too thick, add a splash or two of milk – 1%, 2%, almond milk, or oat milk would work.
Slowly pour the pumpkin cream cold foam mixture over your vanilla-brown-sugar oat milk-chai latte, and top with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, and enjoy!
