Homemade Coconut Creamer

If you love adding a splash of creamy sweetness to your coffee or tea (and you want a dairy free creamer option), this Homemade Coconut Creamer is about to become your new favorite kitchen staple. It’s rich, smooth, and naturally dairy-free, perfect for those who are vegan, lactose-intolerant, or just looking for a lighter alternative to traditional creamers.

Unlike many store-bought creamers that are packed with additives or long ingredient lists, this homemade version is made with just five simple ingredients. The result? A creamy, dreamy addition to your morning coffee or afternoon iced tea that you can feel good about sipping every day.

Why You’ll Love This Coconut Creamer

  • Dairy-Free & Vegan-Friendly – Made with coconut-based ingredients, it’s perfect for anyone avoiding dairy.
  • Simple Ingredients – Just five pantry staples come together to create a luscious, naturally sweet creamer.
  • Versatile – Use it just like your favorite store-bought creamers in iced coffee, hot coffee, cold brew, tea, or even dirty sodas (trust me—it’s amazing with cola and a squeeze of lime!).
  • Homemade Goodness – No preservatives, no gums, just pure coconut flavor blended to perfection.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 1 can coconut milk – Provides creaminess with a lighter coconut base.
  • 1 can coconut cream – Adds thickness and richness for that classic creamer texture.
  • 1 can sweetened condensed coconut milk – Brings natural sweetness and balances the coconut flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract) – Adds depth and warmth to every sip.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt – Just a touch to enhance flavor and cut through the sweetness.

How to Make Homemade Coconut Creamer

  1. To a blender, add the coconut milk, coconut cream, sweetened condensed coconut milk, vanilla, and salt.
  2. Blend until everything is smooth and well combined.
  3. Pour into a mason jar or airtight container with a lid. I love this mason jar with a pour spout lid.
  4. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Shake well before each use, as natural separation may occur.

How to Use It

This coconut creamer is as versatile as it is delicious! Here are a few ways to enjoy it:

  • Stir into your morning hot coffee for a rich, creamy kick.
  • Mix into iced coffee or cold brew for the perfect sweet, refreshing sip.
  • Add to black tea, matcha or chai for a creamy, coconut-y twist.
  • Try it in dirty sodas—a splash of this creamer in cola or root beer with a squeeze of lime for a next-level afternoon pick me up!

Tips & Variations

  • Customize the flavor: Swap vanilla for almond extract, coconut extract, or even a splash of maple syrup.
  • Froth it up: Warm a little in your frother and pour over espresso for a hot coconut latte vibe. Or froth the creamer with a handheld milk frother and pour over any iced drink of choice.
  • Make it pumpkin spice: Add 1 can of pumpkin puree and 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice into the blender for a pumkinified version!

This Homemade Coconut Creamer is proof that making your own creamer at home doesn’t just save money—it also gives you control over ingredients while keeping things simple and dairy-free. Once you try it, you may never go back to store-bought!

I followed the recipe, but mine is very very thick. Do you know what could’ve gone wrong?

Nevermind I think I figured out why!looks like the brand of coconut cream I got was sweetened so likely thicker than unsweetened, so I’ll have to try again

Hi Natalie! This creamer is a bit thicker than others due to the coconut milk and coconut cream combo (both are very high in fat which results in a thicker texture), but it should still be pourable and mixes great in coffee. If it’s too thick to your liking, you can always add any milk of your choice to thin it out (oat, almond, etc) until you reach your desired texture 🙂 Then just make sure to give it a good shake before each use!
