Salted Eggnog Cold Brew

The easiest holiday coffee that tastes indulgent but is only 110 calories!

There are a handful of holiday drinks I look forward to every single year, and this Salted Eggnog Cold Brew has quickly become one of my all-time favorites. It’s creamy, festive, sweet and salty, and gives you that cozy Christmas-morning energy… without being overly heavy or sugary.

If you loved my Salted Eggnog Cold Foam recipe, this takes the same vibe and turns it into the dreamiest cold brew moment. Plus, it’s just 110 calories, takes less than two minutes to make, and you can easily swap in decaf cold brew if you want to keep things caffeine-friendly for the evening.

Let’s make it!

Why You’ll Love This Salted Eggnog Cold Brew

  • Tastes like a holiday treat but still light (only 110 calories!)
  • Quick and simple — perfect for busy December mornings
  • The salted eggnog cold foam is luxurious and chef’s kiss
  • Easily customizable (swap syrups, adjust sweetness, make it decaf/dairy free!)
  • Feels like something straight off a coffee shop holiday menu but for a fraction of the price

Ingredients

For one drink:

  • 12 ounces unsweetened black cold brew (regular or decaf, store-bought or homemade)
  • Ice cubes
  • ¼–½ tablespoon Homemade Brown Sugar Syrup, or store-bought like Torani (or maple syrup works too!)
  • 2 ounces eggnog
  • Pinch of salt
  • Sprinkle of nutmeg (for that perfect festive finish)

How to Make a Salted Eggnog Cold Brew

  1. Build the base:
Add your cold brew, brown sugar syrup, and ice to a glass. Give it a quick stir to combine, then set aside.
  2. Make the salted eggnog cold foam:
In a separate small cup, combine the eggnog and a pinch of salt. Froth using a handheld milk frother until thick and foamy (about 10–15 seconds).
  3. Assemble:
Pour the salted eggnog cold foam over the cold brew.
  4. Finish:
Top with a sprinkle of nutmeg and enjoy!

Tips & Variations

  • Make it decaf:
Just swap in decaf cold brew — still delicious and still perfectly festive. My favorite decaf option is the SToK Decaf Unsweetened Cold Brew Coffee
  • Adjust the sweetness:
Use more or less brown sugar syrup depending on your preference. Maple syrup adds a cozy flavor too!
  • Make it dairy-free:
    Use a dairy-free eggnog alternative.
  • Warm it up:
If you’re not feeling an iced drink, you can warm and froth the salt and eggnog and then add to hot brewed coffee!

  2. Let sit 12–18 hours at room temperature.
  3. Strain.
  4. Store up to 1 week in the fridge— easy!

So yummy. I used 2 packets of stevia in the base of the coffee instead of the syrup to make a healthier version. I also halved the eggnog, putting the other half with milk before throwing into my frother for a lower sugar version, but overall the whole thing still tasted very sweet and good!

I absolutely love the modifications you made to yours to make it a lower sugar alternative!! This is proof you can make great at home coffee no matter what your dietary preferences are! Happy holidays to you and your family 🙂
