Honey Cinnamon Oat Milk Shaken Espresso

If you’ve ever had the Espresso Honey Cinnamon Shaker from Press Coffee, then you already know why this drink is so special. It’s smooth, lightly sweet, perfectly spiced, and somehow feels both cozy and refreshing at the same time.

I’ve been ordering this drink for years whenever I stop by Press Coffee, and honestly, it’s one of my all-time favorite coffee shop drinks. But since not everyone has a Press Coffee nearby (and because I love recreating coffee shop favorites at home), I wanted to create my own version that captures that same flavor and experience.

This homemade version uses my Homemade Honey Cinnamon Vanilla Syrup, freshly brewed espresso, ice, and creamy oat milk for a drink that tastes café-level, but is simple enough to make in your kitchen in just a few minutes.

If you love shaken espresso drinks or honey and coffee together, this one is going to become a staple.

How to Make Espresso

Espresso is the key ingredient in a shaken espresso and is a type of coffee typically made using an espresso machine. See my post 5 Ways to Make Espresso at Home to learn how to make espresso for this recipe with or without a machine.

Tips for the Best Shaken Espresso

Shake while the espresso is hot

This helps create that signature frothy top layer. No need to cool the espresso before shaking.

Use plenty of ice

More ice = more aeration and better texture and more ice helps chill the drink with less meltage.

Adjust sweetness

Start with ½ tablespoon syrup and add more if you like it sweeter.

Use barista-style oat milk

Barista-style oat milks add creaminess without overpowering the espresso.

What Makes This Drink Special

Shaken espresso drinks are different from lattes because the espresso is chilled and aerated before adding milk. This creates a smooth, slightly creamy foam naturally, no frother required.

The homemade honey cinnamon vanilla syrup adds warmth and depth without tasting overly sweet, and pairing it with oat milk gives the drink a balanced, coffee-forward flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use another milk?

Absolutely! Press Coffee uses the Califia Farms Oat Barista Blend Oat Milk for this drink but feel free to use any milk you’d like.

What if I don’t want to make my own syrup?

To recreate this drink at home using store-bought syrups, use the Monin Vanilla Syrup and the Monin Honey Syrup, then add a sprinkle of ground cinnamon into the cocktail shaker with the syrups, espresso and ice.

Can I make this without a cocktail shaker?

Yes, simply use a mason jar or weck jar with a tight-fitting lid.

Is this like a latte?

Very similar yes! Shaken espressos and lattes contain the exact same ingredients, however for a shaken espresso, you shake the espresso, sweetener, and ice together for a lighter, chilled, more aerated espresso beverage than a latte where you simply combine each ingredient directly into a glass. Note, you can skip the shaking step and just combine the syrup, espresso, oat milk, and ice in a glass for a honey cinnamon oat milk latte.

Sugar-Free Version

To make a sugar free version of this drink, combine the following in a cocktail shaker:

  • zero sugar honey (I recommend this cinnamon flavor)
  • tiny splash of vanilla extract
  • espresso
  • ice cubes

Shake until chilled, then add the mixture to a cup with your favorite sugar-free milk

Dairy-Free Version

This recipe is already dairy-free, no modifications needed.

Hot Coffee Version

If you’re more of a hot coffee drinker than iced, you can still create this delicious combo in hot latte form. The ingredient amounts stay the exact same, simply warm or steam the oat milk, and omit the ice. In a mug add the honey cinnamon vanilla syrup, espresso, and steamed oat milk, and enjoy.

Final Thoughts

One of my favorite things about making coffee at home is taking drinks I love from coffee shops and making them more accessible. This recipe is inspired by the Press Coffee Espresso Honey Cinnamon Shaker, but now you can enjoy that same cozy flavor even if you don’t live near a Press Coffee location.

Once you try this at home, you’ll see how easy it is to recreate coffee shop favorites — and honestly, it might become your new go-to iced espresso.
