The Starbucks Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato has quickly become one of the most beloved drinks on the Starbucks fall menu—and for good reason! It’s cozy, comforting, and tastes like a warm apple crisp fresh out of the oven. With layers of sweet brown sugar, cinnamon, creamy oat milk, and espresso, every sip feels like autumn in a cup.
But here’s the best part: you don’t have to wait for Starbucks’ seasonal menu or spend $6+ a pop to enjoy it. With this at-home version, you can whip up your very own Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato (hot OR iced!) anytime the craving strikes—all while saving money and customizing it to your liking.
And trust me, this DIY version is every bit as delicious as the original.

How To Steam Milk

All hot macchiatos require steamed milk as one of the ingredients. To steam milk at home, you have a few options:
- Steam Wand: If you have an espresso machine with a steam wand attached to it, watch this Milk Steaming Video Tutorial for how to steam milk! You simply add milk to a milk frothing pitcher, insert the tip of the steam wand into the milk, and create air bubbles, heat and texture to create perfect, velvety steamed milk at home!
- Electric Milk Frother: Add your milk to an electric milk frother, and select the hot setting. The milk frother will heat the milk as well as create a thick and foamy texture. The texture will be a little different than a typical steam wand, but it’s very similar and pleasant, and a great option if you don’t have an espresso machine with a steam wand.
- Handheld Milk Frother: Add cold milk to a large coffee mug and place the mug in the microwave for 60 seconds. Alternatively, you can heat up milk in a pot on the stove until warm, just make sure to constantly stir it so it doesn’t burn. Once your milk is warm, insert a handheld milk frother into the warm milk. Froth the mixture until the milk doubles in size and becomes bubbly and frothy, and you have steamed milk for your hot latte!
Note, for an iced macchiato, you do not need to warm or steam the milk. Simply skip this step, and use cold milk straight from the fridge.

What Ratios Does Starbucks Use?
I like my macchiatos to be a bit more coffee tasting than milky tasting, so my ratios are a slightly different from Starbucks. If you want to most accurately replicate the Starbucks ratios for an Iced or Hot Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato, follow these ratios:

How Can I Make This Dairy Free?
Both the Iced and Hot Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato recipes are both dairy free as is so no modifications are needed!
How Can I Make This Lower Sugar/Lower Calories?
To make a lower sugar/lower calorie Starbucks Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato at home, make as many of the modifications below as you would like:
- Use unsweetened oat milk or almond milk
- Use less pumps or tablespoons of the Apple Brown Sugar Syrup and Spiced Apple Drizzle
- For a lower sugar homemade Apple Brown Sugar Syrup and Spiced Apple Drizzle, simply use a sugar free brown sugar substitute.

How Can I Make This As a Cold Brew or Iced Coffee?
For a cold brew or iced coffee version of an Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato, do:
- 1-2 tablespoons Apple Brown Sugar Syrup
- 12 ounces of cold brew/iced coffee
- 2-3 tablespoons oat milk, heavy cream, or half & half
- Ice cubes
- Spiced Apple Drizzle
- Sprinkle of ground cinnamon
Combine Apple Brown Sugar Syrup, cold brew/iced coffee, oat milk (or whatever other dairy/plant based milk you enjoy), and ice. Stir to combine, then top with the Spiced Apple Drizzle and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

How Can I Make This With a Keurig?
While Keurig machines technically can’t produce espresso, you can still make a great tasting apple crisp coffee beverage with one.
Brew your favorite K-Cup (I recommend 10-12 ounces) and then add 1-2 tablespoons of the Apple Brown Sugar Syrup, and 2-3 tablespoons of oat milk (or whichever milk/cream you prefer). Top with Spiced Apple Drizzle and a sprinkle of cinnamon! Enjoy this as a hot coffee, or you could add ice before adding the toppings for an iced coffee version!
